Oct. 5, 2001:
Troy-Bilt has filed bankruptcy and sold a majority of its shares to MTD.
Unfortunately, Bee Gee Rental and Sales, Inc. was not made aware of this
until employees read it in the newspaper. Since then, we have been
collecting information about the sale and about where that leaves us as
a servicing dealer. We still have several Troy-Bilt items in stock, and
we have been assurred that Troy-Bilt customers will receive the work and
parts they will need. We have also learned that warranties will be
honored. The questions we still haven't had sufficiently answered by
either Troy-Bilt or MTD, are: "Can we still do warranty work on
Troy-Bilt products?," and "Will we still be allowed to
continue to be a Troy-Bilt dealer without being required to pick up MTD,
or another of its lines. So far, we have received conflicting
answers to both of those questions, and are still trying to make the
proper contacts in order to set the story straight. As soon as we get definitives
answer, we will post that information here.
